i need some help with oil in my chevy malibu. i pulled out the dipstick and it had two spots of oil on the min. and on the max. part of the dipstick but not the middle so i poured in more oiil and checked it again, same thing. i figured i should run the engine for a few minutes to warm things up. i did that checked the dipstick a few more times and still i only get two spots on the min. and max. area with nothing in the middle. and i know i don't have a oil leak what is the problem.
yeah i pretty much know what your talking about but i'll try to upload a pic.
ok i couldn't upload a pic but i found one on google.

that's how mine looks but imagine the whole middle section of oil is not there, just the top and bottom.

Generally you need to keep the oil level between the min and max markings. When the level is at the add mark, or below the min mark, it will take about a quart of oil bring it to the full level.

If the oil never gets below the min mark on the stick between oil changes, this is normal oil consumption. No matter the car, they will all use a small amount of oil, even though some people will tell you different.
