plus size wheels 78 nova

I Have a 78 nova and I redid all the suspension and such to prepare the car for the plus size wheels I was gonna add.so I put 225 35z r20 90w xl on and had no hard driving conditios however the profile is too low and makes it driving it has me on a pot hole hi alert.I wanted to add a 40 series tires. Does anyone know what size 40 series I can put on with no rubbing or scrapping

The 225x35x20 tire is 26" in diameter. Going to 40 series you need 195x40x20 which is a skinny tire. You have created a problem by going to such a large wheel as the 20 inch on that car. You should have gone to a 17 inch wheel at most.
