Opinions..
What you like about them?
What you hate about them?
Facts?
data?

what i like is that they do get good mpg for its size and power, and if you work on your own truck, they are easy to work on and parts are cheap and easy to find, and the motors are built Solid and what the other guy said about the trannys is only part true, they will last forever if you maintain them and don't tow a house with a 1/2 ton truck, but get a tranny oil cooler with it because the ones that do break 90% is because they over heated due to old transmission Fluid not being changed or overloaded load (GM makes the 2500 and 3500 for towing since about 80% of 1/2 owners don't tow anything while 80% of 1 ton owners do tow).

Now I have to say this too Ford makes a great truck, and you won't go wrong with that too, and the Ford has better brakes and are known for their frame strengh, but they do not hold resale very well and the parts do not interchange that much and sometimes there is a big difference in between factory's in the trucks that they make, IE a truck made in Norfolk might have a different coil than one made in St Louis and allot of auto part places can't tell the difference and you will pull your hair out it (doesn't matter with the newer ones, Ford fixed this problem a few years ago)

i like the old silverados.. i mean the old k5 k10 k20 k30. great for offroading and i think they looked damn good. the newer styles look pretty good but dont even compare to the offroad performance of the old k type chevys. all that IFS bullcrap now.. not just chevy but ford and dodge too.

i have had two. one 4x4, and one 2x4. the 2x4 has over 170000 miles and it has performed well. the original factory brakes just came off of it. the other one was totalled by a deer. good gas mileage, both, the 170k silverado has a still perfect interior, doesnt smoke or have other issues. good trucks, all of them.

I have an 06' Silverado. I get nearly 20 mpg. It hauls and pulls my trailers easily. It will carry 6 adults. It does everything I ask of it well and I have had no problems with it. It is comfortable and quiet.

one of the best built trucks made in u.s.but gm wrecked this by being dishonest with consumers

The trannys in the half ton is weak, the 2500's are ok. They have rust issues on the older one. They are still the smoothest riding truck on the road and are better in the snow then the Ford's by far and maybe even the Dodge's, I'm taking slippery roads and not deep snow, however the 4x4's are pretty crappy off road but then I think all newer trucks are getting that way since people care more about frills then ability. The engines normally last a long time and parts are easy to get and pretty cheap for the most part. They are probably the best of the full sized trucks on gas, I know they are much better then Dodge although Dodge does have a more powerful engine. They are normally pretty user friendly to work on, they have some intake issues on the models that use plastic intakes and they sometimes leak coolant because of that.

I have a 99 Ext Cab 1500 2WDR with the 4800 V8.The truck has been really good.I had the ABS pump go under warranty. That is all thats gone wrong in 10 years.Gets 20 miles to the gallon.Still has Original brakes and Plugs.Where we live i have to take it through aircare(emissions test).Passed with flying colors.Truck has no rust.Has about 105000 miles on it.
