thanks in advance for your input on this issue, thinking of buying a 2006 avalanche and during the test drive , attempted to turn on ac to make sure it worked and nothing no light in the display no heat, no defrost no buttons worked at all checked the fuses they were fine. i know there are like 3 sensors one in front grille, one on middle of dash and one at drivers headliner area , is this hard to fix

the light sensors control all the dash illumination not just the AC. If the other dash lights work and the AC doesnt most likely the LED to light up the AC is burnt out. If that is the case the panel has to be disassembled and delicate soldering has to be performed to remove the old one and install a new one.

thanks Zora for your input on this issue! yes i was thinking the same thing the display/unit may be bad, there is one online for 150.00 it is a plug and play unit Is there a way to check the 3 ac sensors to comfirm if they are bad? currently there is no operation whatsoever from the hvac/defrost unit , would not mind if just the ac did not work, but in a rain storm you need the defroster/defoggers to be operable.. just wondering what the dealer would do to fix this?

you have a lighting problem but then refer to temperature sensors which have nothing to do with the lighting problem. Have you determined if the compressor engages when you turn on the AC? When you saying nothing works do you mean the fan does not turn on at any speed setting?
