the plug is gone from the chevy there is a red, green, black and white wires,I have tried all combinations but cant get the trailer lights to work, the trailer wires are green, yellow neg, yellow pos, and white, Its a 12 volt system TIA
had it working before, just can't get it this time
I know the white is ground, but I didn't have it attached to anything do you think that could be the problem

Woah
I would go have someone do that for you.
You dont wanna mess anything up

that is an odd wire code usually the colors are white-ground yellow-right brake and turn signal green-left brake and turn and a brown-tail and running lights. for the truck you can buy a plug that will plug into the truck harness just infront of the bumper it's kind of a 3 way plug with a harness that has the right plug ( flat 4 pin) already on it. you plug it into the truck harness and then into the trailer and you are done. as far as the white wire goes yes that could easily be your problem. the trailer half you need to ground to a good clean ground on the trailer itself. the on the truck side ground that to a good ground on the truck itself to. let me know if you have any more trouble by e-mail and i'll walk you through fixing it. good luck.
