clean the fuel injectors, change all filters (including the fuel filter), check for vacuum leaks (spray throttle body cleaner around the vacuum lines and see if the engine picks up a bit), clean out yout IAC system (maybe even replace it) check your spark plugs, wires, distributor cap, distributor rotor, and possibly your ignition coil. check timing as well. also make sure your exhaust is clear
