My chevrolet Silverado 2000 shuts off when i take my foot off the pedal?

while driving to upstate ny in cold weather my , my dash light goes in or out, then the cruise control went out, now while driving when coming to a complete stop and my foot is removed from the gas, the vehicle shuts off and all electrical goes dead. When the car is warmed up, it seems to run fine, but iwhen stopped for 10 min or so, it goes dead again....why

I had similar problems with my truck. Does it run really rough when you first start it up? Took it to my mechanic and it turns out it was the intake gaskets were letting too much air escape. Had it replaced and it runs fine now. They said you can test the gaskets by spraying presurized air on the gasket area and if the rpm's shoot up then thats most likely the problem.
