My '97 Chevy Malibu driver side TAIL light has a piece cracked out of it BUT...?

the lights still work. Ive been doing some shopping and only seem to find the lens/cover for sale WITH the circuit board with the bulbs. Cant I just buy a cover ? And from where ?

The tail light lens assembly can be purchased with or without the circuit board. A good place to order it from would be at your local Advance Auto Parts store or you can purchase it at numerous sources online:
