I'm currently restoring a 1973 Nova and I'm running into some issues with manifolds and the steering box being way to big.

The engine is a 350 small block gen 2 engine. Originally I tried putting headers in and there was no way to get past the steering box. The steering box is the stock sagnisaw with the four bolts on the top. People have recommended a special version of Doug's headers to get around the steering box as they were designed specifically for that problem.

Alternatively I bought original factory exhaust manifolds and tried those, they work kind of...due to the steering box again the driver side rubs against the steering box. It works...but it is not right.

So my question is has anyone else had this problem and what did they do to solve it? Should I just buy the Doug's headers? Is there a different steering box I can put in? Thanks in advance for any help.
