force us to buy Chevy Volts? Oh and before you liberals cry about car insurance. The federal government doesnt require it. That is 1 reason it is different. #2 states require it but only if you drive a car. If you dont have a car, you dont need to have car insurance. #3 driving or owning a car is a privilege, not a right. #4 How i live my life is my right, if i dont want health insurance then i shouldnt be Forced to get it because its my choice
@ALL knowing one. But yet you would be fine with a single payer or universal health care system. Hypocrite

The government could not force us to buy Chevy Volts, because that is a particular product made by a particular company. They could force us to buy fuel efficient cars (in fact, they have set fuel efficiency standards for years), but they cannot specify from which company. Similarly, they can force us to buy health insurance in general, but they cannot force us to buy, say, health insurance from Aetna only.

i'm apolitical but circumstances in my and my husband's life have made it so we had to government help. i understand your premise, however, have you seen the leaps and bounds health care has made in the last 3 years and do you realize all the jobs that will be created. don't tell me no because it's happening already. if the states don't want this law, they can refuse to ratify it by your representative i hope you voted for and will need a 3/4 majority to win. you do understand this that there are checks and balances. they are inherent in the system except for that ridiculous federal reserve problem but that's another area

This question was stupid the first time you asked it, however the answer has not changed.
As soon as you find a way to guarantee that you will never get sick, never get hit by a bus, never need medical attention in anyway what so ever then you don't have to buy insurance. In the meantime I don't want to pay for deadbeats who are too irresponsible to plan for their future.

LOL! Libs will back peddle out of this question and insult you or say yes the govt can do th at

Because not buying a chevy volt doesn't effect anyone else. The cost of health insurance is starting to get too expensive for the average person to afford. A lot of it is from people with no health insurance paying expensive visits to hospitals. Hospitals have to raise the price on their services to make up for the losses, which people who have insurance end up paying. A good amount of hospitals are also finding it hard to stay open because of losses. With everyone insured, it will help people currently insured, and hospitals.
