OK here's the deal on my 78 I'm going thru the engine and seeing what needs to be swapped on my 78 nova. So for the alt is bad but I was swapping on my egr valve and the one I purchasdd from rock auto the nipple on it was to small and the orientation was the opposite of the factory .but my main questions are I found a Lil oil in the inside between the valve and the mount on the engine. Also I noticed a lot of my vacuum lines are old so I'm looking for a bulk purchase so I Dont have to measure them all are all the vacuum line 1/4" .and has anyone put a cs12 alt or any other alt instead of a cs10

A newer alternator can be used, Since upper and lower mounting points are both on the front casting one with the mounting points directly opposite each other will be needed. If getting one from a junk yard grab the plug and as much wire as possible, at least 6".
Here is the install on my V8 77. IIRC it is 100 amp. I have the wiring diagram somewhere too. I will find and post it for you.

OK I'll look into it .but your engine is different from mine .I have a straight 6

The stock 6 and V8 alternators mounted the same and used the same wiring. A new style can be added to your car too.
