is there any way to get more mpg on a 1997 chevy silverado z71?

im getting like 6-10
i wasted 4 gallons of gas...in 33 miles and now im on E and have no money...i guess im driving on E till thursday...anyway to get more mpg? i drive it nicely i dont floor or anything ever nice pleasant goes nice pleasant stops it has about 142k miles on it
