Is the Chevy Avalanche good for plowing?

I'm the car guy so a friend of mine is inquiring what type of truck he should get.

He needs to have a back seat to safely carry his two kid's carseats (he has a bench chevy now).

He runs a company and plows all evening when it snows, so he REALLY plows (not the occasional plower). He likes the avalanche, but I have never seen anyone use it as a work truck, and I don't know how it would hold up to heavy work/towing/plowing.

I think I should push him to a quad cab, but I thought I'd ask to see if the avalanche can be a decent work truck/plow truck before I give such a suggestion.

if money is no object and he wants a pickup with plenty of room for his kids, I'd suggest the Dodge Mega Cab

well the avalanche is just the 1/2 1500 silverado truck with the plastic piece added behind the cab, if a 1/2 ton 1500 silverado can do the work he does then the avalanche can to, but if he does heavy work i'd suggest the silverado 2500HD crew cab with the duramax diesel, crew cab is the quad cab same thing, not too much more than the 1/2 ton 1500 and you get more for what you pay for

more like the silverado,f150,toyota tundra new v8 ones and a dodge ram

You could buy the older model Avalanche that was a 3/4-ton rated, but I do not know if they are still available (new).

For the occasional plow, a 1/2-ton rated vehicle would do alright, but that is a lot of weight on the front axle. Since you say that he is not the 'occasional plower' then I suggest that he get a 3/4-ton rated truck (3/4 and 1-ton are usually rated to carry the same amount, but you may find different spring rates between the two).

The Avalanche is no more than a different body on the exact frame as a pickup. If I were you, I would push him toward a little bit heavier truck than a 1/2 ton or he will have more down time for repairs.

f 250 super crew (quad cab) 7.3 diesel. Best plow truck ever. As for the avalanche i have never seen one used for plowing..... or anything but getting the dry cleaning and going to the supermarket.
