Is my 4 Wheel Low burned up?? 99 Chevy Silverado Ext. Cab?

It has snowed a lot in the east these past couple days and I had it in 4 Low because I was stuck on the highway turn off, well in the mist of trying to get out I was damn near flooring it to get out turning the wheels back and forth.. I left it in 4 wheel because i was in the development once i was un-stuck and drove home. i got out and defiantly smelled a burning metal smell. Tried to pull someone out today in 4 lo and only 4 hi would let the front tires really spin. if so how much is this repair going to rape me for. Thanks for any help!!
and is the 4 wheel high still gonna function as normal even tho 4 wheel low is cooked?
