So, my 06 Chevrolet Suburban starting making a ticking noise, which sounded like it was overly low on oil. I preceded to check the oil, and the dipstick displayed that the engine was fine on oil, almost to the top. So I brought it to the Chevy dealership, and realized that the sound only becomes noticeable when the engine warms up enough. I dropped it off, and they called later that morning saying that there is no problem with the engine, and that I could go and pick it up. So I re-explained the problem, saying that the noise only becomes apparent when the engine has fully warmed up. So an hour later, the dealership calls back and says that the engine is ruined, and that I will have to replace it for $7,800. This claim didn't make any sense to me, it only 102k on the engine, and the car has had the proper oil change every 3,000 miles with the proper oil. So, does anyone have any opinions on this?? Or has anyone else had a problem similar to this with their Suburban, or with the same motor? It's a 06, 4WD Z71 package with the 5.3L V8.
