Is it possible to lower a 2001 Chevy Silverado 1500 Z71 4X4?

Im looking at buying the above truck but I want to lower it and I was told by a friend that it isn't possible, im curious if this is true?
How much would it cost to do the whole lowering process on this type of a truck?
