Intermittent cruise control

Sometimes the cruise works just fine then sometimes not at all. Already replaced the multi purpose switch which controls it along with the wipers etc. which didn't solve it. When it doesn't work it usually does the next time I start it up.

Do your brake lights work?

No warning lights.......brake lights work perfect

Do you have 4 wires on switch for cruise?
If so, with key on is one wire hot? With key on and switch on, do you have two hot?
