I've had this annoying clunk in my steering ever since I bought the burb back in 06.
Our 2000 burb had it and my 99 pickup had it. Took both of them in to get fixed but never took the 03 in.
I found out today that its the design of the intermediate steering shaft that is causing this.

check out this link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BFi6asV2K_A

If this doesn't work how hard is it to replace it?
Anyone have any experience with this?
Seems to be a rather large problem. Don't think its a safety issue but IT IS REALLY ANNOYING :)
Thanks again gents

It's not difficult to re and re, I had mine rebuilt at a driveshaft shop for $200 cash.. It is a lot cheaper than taking it in and having a new one installed!

Many vehicles, not just Suburbans, with this design have this same issue. Try the lube as suggested in the video.

IT WORKED!!!
I tried what the video link said. Piece of cake. Took her out for a quick drive down our nicely bumpy potholed road....That annoying clunk is gone (for now)

We'll see how long it lasts
