If you had $25,000 would you get a 2002 Corvette Z06 or a 2005 C6 base...

...Corvette? Pros and Cons for each? Forgot to mention this, the higher the down payment, the longer I have to wait to get one. Obviously.
I will be leaving for basic in july and I've been looking at cars in the $20,000-$30,000 range. My housing is paid for, I will be getting full benefits and my food is sort of paid for. My average pay for the first year is about 1800 a month or so. My first question is, what would be a good down payment and what kind of monthly payments would i be looking at with said down payment? I have no credit right now until i start paying back my student loan in august, so I have no idea what a reasonable estimate for my APR would be. Im 19 so I know my insurance will probably be quite high but im sure i can still afford it if i have monthly payments $500 or less for the car.

So, I guess i have a couple questions other than the one above.

-What are the pros and cons for a 2005 Corvette and a 2002 Corvette Z06?

-Which would be cheaper to slightly modify? (ie, exhaust, intake, possibly supercharger/turbocharger after its paid off ;) etc.)

-Which is better when it comes down to weight, horsepower/torque, handling, etc.?

Any knowledge you would like to share would be greatly appreciated.

2005
Newer, handles much better
Looks a bit better and more exotic
More standard features.

Being in the military currently I know where you are sitting right now. You are about to get an enlistment bonus once you get out of AIT and you are really excited because you can get a really cool car. Take this in consideration. You have no idea where you will be stationed if you are going active. Maybe over seas so you will have to have the car shipped over there to you. Maybe up north where it snows allot like FT Drum NY, Ft. Lewis, Ft. Riley who knows. Then you may get deployed shortly after and have to find storage. Military storage is open parking areas that provide no protection other than theft. You really want that car to sit outside for over a year? Wait until you have been in a while and have some rank and maturity before you blow all your money on a car. Save for a while and think really hard about what you want. 1800 a month isnt as sweet as it sounds, especially if you pay about 700 a month on a car, that includes insurance.

I'd get the least expensive car I could find and spend some of that money on tuition, books, bills, insurance, my friends and family, marijuana, and alcohol. I'd have a lot left over for more bills in the future, and I'd not run out of drugs for a long time. I'd spend 1000 at least on provisions for a trip to thanksgiving rehearsal and I'd go to sixth street in Austin kind of regularly for a while.

Plus a fancy hand blown glass bong with the type of air seal made by the the glass itself, rather than a rubber gasket.

In fact, F buying the cheap car, I already have one.

Id buy an 2003 audi rs6. Fast and a sleeper. Plus all wheel drive for all climates.
