I want to buy a Corvette(75-82) but how fast are they?

I want to get a car loan, and buy a vehicle in about a year. I'm going to sale my camaro, and save up so I can buy an old muscle car that is in great shape. The problem is that though Corvette Stingrays have been my dream car for practically my who life, Im starting to question how fast they go. A lot of the 77-82 models, my favorites, have a top speed of 85 mph(seriously I would be almost driving top seed on the highway driving 75). So my question is this...does the stingray really have a top speed of 85mph with a V8 350 engine, or is that just a lie on the dashboard.

Also I would like to know if the Sec Gen Camaros have better performance, then its older sister Corvette Stingrays. And what is the Gas millage for both...just something i've been wondering for some time now
