So my engine light came on on my 2008 Chevy HHR LT. So my husband and I stopped at the gas station and saw that the antifreeze tank was low so we added more antifreeze and it started pouring out. Upon further examining we found that at the top of the coolant tank it looks like there used to be a plug that went in there and now it is missing and the antifreeze pours out the top when you fill it to high. I don't know what is supposed to be in that whole. Is it a plug? a hose? I don't know. We went out to the auto parts store and the guy wasn't any help. I came home and looked online for pictures to see if I could see what was supposed to be in the whole. I can't find a picture anywhere. Can someone help me? Maybe you'll know what is supposed to be there or find a picture for me??

The expansion tank should have two hoses coming off it. One from the bottom should go into the radiator cap area, & the second on is one top. The top one is just an overflow hose. It dumps any overflowing coolant away from the engine and down, allowing it to just dump on the street. There also COULD be an electric sensor in the tank, to tell the computer the tank is low.
