Sounds like something electrical burned. That could have been a wire, relay, circuit board, or even the blower motor winding.
Do you have any experience with an electrical multi-meter? If so, there are some tests you can do. If not, then you're probably better off by taking it to your local mechanic.
Something was pulling too much power and overheated causing something to burn in the electrical circuit.
You could narrow it down by checking your fuses related to your A/C system.
If any of those are fried then something on that circuit is burnt.
Blower Fuse 3 - 30 Amp - located in the underhood fuse block
HTR A/C Fuse 12 - 25 Amp
There is also a blower resistor, a high blower relay, and if you have dual A/C for the back then there is another whole set of fuses, resistors, and relays for that part of the system as well.

BTW - is your burb a 4x4 or 2x4? gas/diesel?
