I just got an '02 chevy silverado 1500 and am having trouble with the reverse lights?

Whenever I have been driving at night, I notice that when I put the truck into reverse that I cannot see the reverse lights or anything behind me. It seems like everything else that I have driven before has had much brighter backup lights but I have put it in reverse and set the parking brake to check that the lights are working and they are fine and I don't have any problems with headlights or anything else on the truck. Is there a problem that needs fixing or should I look into replacing the bulb with a new one or an led?

well changing the bulb or upgrading will help a little but try taking the whole red plastic light cover apart and cleaning it with soap and water. or put euro lights on your truck.
