i have a 92 camaro with a 85/86 corvette engine/my trans is gone...?

i have a 92 Camaro RS 25th anniversary edition with a 85/86 Corvette engine..trans recently seemingly went out..is this a problem that will continue to happen if i get another trans i was priced a trans for $350 can have put in for another $300...what kind of transmission would i need to be compatible with this car...i have it up for sale..how much should i ask for..was the fastest car i've had (camaro's,monte carlo's)
