longest miles without changing it? what is the safest amount of miles you can go without changing it? what kind of oil do u reccommend. its winter time here so i dont know if that matters for thinness of the oil. Please help. I am 17. its a 4.2 L6 Takes 7 quarts of oil. I heard some one say Mobil 1??? but im not sure. Thank You.

mobile one is good oil, im not sure what there recommendation is for oil changes though. I prefer amsoil....with the good stuff you can go 15,000 miles with a filter change 1/2 (7500 miles) way through. but always check your oil level, you might need to top off in-between. I never knew of anyone having oil burning problems with conventional oil changed every 3000 miles.........that's the best way in my opinion. cars rarely get junked due to motor problems having anything to do with the kind of oil used, normally its due to lack of oil or lack of oil changes. Good luck!

Mobil 1 has an extended drain interval formula, its a full synthetic with a stronger additive package to allow for longer drain intervals. Still I would change it every 7-10K though the oil can go longer than that. Summer or winter you are safe with 5W-30.
