I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado with a 4.3L engine. It is a good gas save...

...but it doesn't have have the speed? My Chevy is a great gas saver but it doesn't have the get up and go juice like other 6 cyl. I step on the gas and is slowly creeps up in speed. I am looking to modify my 4.3 to give it that jack rabbit jump.
Please give suggestions.
