I am not a car person at all. I have a 2001 Chevy Malibu and my anti-lock

brake light came on.? What does this mean. It was raining cats and dogs and I went to turn. The car made this funny noise like a person scratching on a chalk board. I just got my brakes changed, so I don't think it is my breaks. Plus, soon as it made the sound, the Anti-lock brake switch came on. What does this mean. Please tell I do not have to spend a lot of money if something needs to be fixed.
