how would i get better mpg on my chevy silverado c10 84?

new plugs, wires, pcv valve, air filter, put fuel injection cleaner in it, make sure the check engine light isnt on, make sure u got a good 02 sensor, take off slower at a light not flooring everytime you take off, make sure the vehicle is running good no misfire or anyting

make sure the motor is tune up and if the running gear is in good shape and the transmission isnt slipping stay out of the throttle there really isnt alot that u can do to get great fuel mileage out of these kind of trucks unless u go to a high rear end gear to lower ur rpms.

ok first the guy with the o2 sensor comment thats funny! 84 S10 with o2 sensors, good laugh.

ok well i own an 86 C10 burban and i have found that
replacing the air filter helps a ton.
carb is well tuned, dont turn higher then 800 rpm at idle if you dont have 2,(might have to raise in winter if u live somewhere close.)
be smooth in your accelerating, allow early shifts.
keep your tires well inflated, it does help alot.
take out anything you dont need, less weight the better.
dont fill up all 30-45 gallons, fill half way, saves weight.
roll stop signs, there so useless(unless people r there)
dont run your ac if you can help it.
good alternator, belts dont slip, or screech.
good spark plugs, (ensures u use all the fuel)

thats all the cheap easy things other then that, if you went all out, swap carb for smaller ports, change the gears.

good luck bud, i know how ya feel though, i get 10 mpg with my 454 :(

Get an KN air filter. It increases your horsepower by 10-15 and increases your average mpg by 1-2.

If you have a spare tire remove it, and replace your battery with a lighter performance battery.

Replace your spark plugs with a higher quality spark plug that increases your mpg.

If you have A/C remove it. A/C takes hp and reduces your mpg.
and adds 20-50 pounds to your engine.

Get Aluminum heads. They reduce your weight by 30 pounds and increase your hp and mpg.

Make sure your air pressure in your tires are perfect this affects your mpg.

Your stock MPG is 13mpg city and 17mpg highway with an average of 14mpg.

Tire pressure is the easiest improvement to be made to help improve gas mileage.
The question is , when it comes to a heavy duty pickup what pressures make sense? On my 2007 Silverado 3500 HD, the manufacturer recommends 60psi front and 70psi in the rear. I assume they think it's fully loaded. The truck rides pretty hard with those pressures when empty.
What kind of pressures do you guys put in your tires when not fully loaded?
