how to make a 1987 corvette faster help!?

what can i do to fix up my 1987 corvette that is stock. After the stock engine goes out. im thinking of puttin the best small block engine inside it. or maybe i could do a big block?? anyways as of right now what can i do to the car to make it go faster. but im planning on changing the engine in the future. so nothing in the engine.

basically all you can do is add a better breathing exhaust and rear end gears, it will make a noticeable difference

or add those 40 hp magic plugs robert m mentioned
