I had this problem last year and replaced intake manifold and intake gasket? The car was overheating. Now it is doing it again. They checked and the block is not cracked , they say it is the thermostat this time. Cost 249 to repair total, for everything = add new coolant, flush system is this a fair price and will this finally solve the problem. I hate this car, there are so many problems with the engine, and cooling system. Chevy know there was a problem with the engine and redesigned it the next year, too late for us. Do not buy a Chevy! Buy Honda! I could not drive more than 3 miles without it overheating. Added 3 gallons of water to get to the mechanic , again. I know it is getting older, but, I just had it in last month and I thought I had dealt with this problem in Jan, now it is back.

Go to a RADIATOR SHOP instead of a rip off mekanik. The thermostat is NOT your problem.

Go buy that Honda and let me know when it brakes and when it cost three times the amount to fix it verses a american made car.

Just to let you know. The yellow antifreez - Dex Cool is garbage. After about 2 years it turns to gunk and gums EVERY thing up. They say it last 50,000 miles "NOT"
Do it your self and save about $ 200.00
Follow the upper radiator hoes from the radiator to the engine. The thermastat will be there. 2 or 3 bolts. Remove the housing, replace the stat, then houseing.
Buy reguler green 50-50 antifreez and a bottle of engine radiator flush.
put the flush in and run the engine as it says on the flush bottle.
Flii the radiator with the 50-50 and run the engine with the radiator with the cap off for about 10 minuts. Turn the engine off . Top off the radiator, install a NEW radiator cab. Then top off the bottle.
You might have $50.00 or so into the job and the fact you did it your self. With the money you saved, GO TO LUNCH.
For that matter, Take me to lunch. lol
