how good are the motors in chevy impala?

A good motor can become trash very quickly with a bad driver/owner. Find one which had a responsible owner and you get a good motor.
 
I depends I don't know about the current generation but I know that the older generation the engine to have was the 3.8L Series 2 V6. The 3100 V6 was also a good engine but not as power full and also stay away from cars that have the 3500 V6 (similar to the 3100 V6) they have problems with the intake manifold gaskets leaking coolant into the engine.
 
yeah it really does depend on year and I agree with the last answer...the 3.8 gm motor is a very good motor..
 
It depens on the years you are asking about, but the 3.8 liter is one of the most durable engines ever made.
