How Do I Level out my 1989 Chevrolet Silverado?

Do I need to buy something or can I just remove a leaf spring or a shackle? I just want the truck to sit level because right now the truck sits raked (factory suspension). I don't want to slam it to the ground and I know that if I want to go lower Ill have to notch it and buy parts.
