My Nova's suspension in the rear is off. One side sits one inch lower than the other? I bought the car like this and I have not gotten a reasonable answer from any mechanic. Any hints? Also I haven't started the car in 1 year. Any clues on how to bring it back to life and not mess up the engine?

mismatched rear tires? or you have a sagging spring or broken leaf or a rusted spring perch..

starting a car after a year you need to replace all fluids and clean the fuel system..you'll probably need a new battery.. you may want to pull the spark plugs and squirt a little light oil in the cylinders and then spin it over with the starter to blow it back out..

Best is to take it to a frame shop and find out for sure that the frame/body is not twisted. Correct it as needed. If it is not twisted, replace the springs and hanger bushings. You could go the cheap way and put spring spacers from Lakewood (traction bar company etc) in where they would do the job. As far as the engine I would remove the plugs and squirt a little marvel mystery oil in each cylinder. Then make or purchase an oil pump driver and spin the pump until oil is present at all rocker arms. I am assuming you have a V8. Then spin it over until the mm oil is mostly squirted out and replace the plugs. drain the old gas and put in new gas and crank her up. good luck.

I like what every one else is saying .
the only other thing that may cause it is sagging front spring .
if you have one spring on front lower the opposite side on rear will be higher than other rear side.
