How do i change my side terminals to top terminals(battery) for an '02 chevy...

...avalanche? ive googled all over the place. i need to change my battery terminal cables. they connect to the side of the battery and i would rather have the cables connect to the top of the battery rather than the side. its an 02 chevy avalanche 1500. know anything please hit me up. volcrany@yahoo.com
 
Just about any parts store can sell you a battery cable conversion kit.... It's not that hard it you have cable cutters... You just simply cut the old side terminal connections off Strip the outer skin of the wire... And then clamp the new ends on it.. They screw down... Just make sure before you do all the cutting and stripping that the cables are long enough to reach the top posts of the new battery... You don't want to find out after you cut them that they wont reach.
 
There's probably a reason it's got side terminals, no one prefers them.

Manufacturers use side terminal batteries because traditional top terminals won't fit under the hood. Changing it will require modification in the engine bay, possibly a lot.

Take your truck somewhere that stocks a lot of batteries and then ask what will work in your truck. Prepare for disappointment though.

yep, it know what your saying! i changed mine on my oldsmobile. my battery has side and top post so what i did was cut the cables, got a couple of replacement ends for top post and hooked them on the top post. auto zone sells the top post ends.
