How can i play my ipod music in my 2010 Chevy Traverse?

Hi,

Not to long ago i got a new car and it has a USB port built in so you can play your ipod music. I read about it in the manual and i did everything it said and it didn't work... All it did was charge it.... Anybody have any suggestions? Thanks in advance
