I have 2009 4WD Chevy Avalanche. I'm hoping someone with a Silverado may have experienced this same problem. My vehicle is under warranty but I have had it back to the dealer numerous times and they have been unable to give me any kind of answer better than a guess. Here's the sound and the condition under which it happens:
Any temperature (air temp and engine temp, I live in Chicago, so I see quite a swing in temps)
It will happen regardless of whether I'm towing something or not.
It will happen in 2wd & 4wd High
Basically, it happens no matter what I do.
If I'm going at any speed greater than 50mph and decelerate down to around 40 MPH and then go to speed back up, as I hit the accelerator to speed back up, I hear this 1-2 second hissing or whooshing noise coming from underneath somewhere. My best guess would be somewhere towards the front of the vehicle. Has anyone experienced this? If so, were you able to get a diagnosis from the dealer..or by your own trial and error? Were you able to get the problem fixed? Any help on the matter would be appreciated. Thus far it has not caused any drive-ability problems and it has not gotten any worse since it started happening (about 6 months ago). I look forward to hearing from you.
