Help with spark on my chevy 350 vortec suburban...?

just switched out my 350 vortec motor. 1500 chevy suburban 4x4. i cant get it to spark and cant figure out why. any suggestions or help appreciated. contemplated taking the distributor off the motor i switched to (a 70s 350) with bare electronics and switching it with mine off my 97 motor. will it irritate the computer too much? suggestions, thanks.

If you are using a H.E.I. distributor all you have to do is supply power to the coil and make sure the engine is grounded and it should have spark. If it is not getting spark and you have checked those out it may me the module or pickup. If it is an old points distributor the points could be bad. Do you realize that your truck will not pass an emission check now? The emission laws say that you can not replace a vehicles emission system with an older system. Any vehicle that has an older motor and emission system is not legal for the road after the swap. Just though you would like to know. Hope I have been helpful.
