Hi guys,
I just recently bought this truck and had to replace the distributor now its running with a BAD knock and there is no oil pressure or it doesn't start at all any help would be appreciated:mad:

k so i pulled the dissy again moved it back one slot in the rotation now she starts but is idling really low ( dieseling ) and any throttle applied she boggs down and dies any thoughts.
when i bought the truck she ran perfect except for a bouncing idle need help to get this project back on the road so i can get it in the body shop,

1. Why did you replace original distributor?
2. When you installed the new distributor did you mark the original distributor rotor position and mark the position of the original distributor body so that the new one dropped in the same way as the original?
3. When you installed the new distributor did you set the timing using a timing light?

k so i got everything back together running fine only thing is once the engine is warm she idles low 500rpm and feels like it wants to die also when shifting from park to any drive gear. new distributor, IAC, ignition coil, its been in the shp and checked for fuel pressure and vaccum leaks, the egr checked ok too

So the shop cannt tell you why it's idling low?
Did you set the initial timing using a timing light?

when the truck went into the shop it had a high and erratic idle, they checked timing vac leaks and ign system. Then I changed the distributor and ign coil now it runs good when cold but when warm it idles low and when stopped or shifting into gears it boggs down and wants to die it really has a problem when backing up then shifting to drive stalls almost every time.

OK, I still am not clear on one point, when you changed the distributor, did you set the timing using a timing light????
