I have a 2001 Impala and I need to know how I can take out my ignition lock cylinder because my key won't turn to allow me to push the button to take it out. I have tried EVERYTHING. I tried moving the steering wheel back and forth really hard, turning the steering wheel while jiggling the key up and down, hitting the end of the key a few times, hard and soft and I've gotten nothing. I am going to replace the lock cylinder because its been going out, it use to let me hit it and then the key would turn but now, nothing. Someone tell me what to do so I can be > :D

If you have plenty of battery power then I have no idea how to help but,,,
I just had a similar problem but it was due to my battery running down to no power. I just wanted to turn the key forward so that I could get the shifter into neutral and back the car off of my ramps. The key turned forward ok without starting of course,, but would not go all the way to the "rear" position where you can usually remove the key. Once I applied jumper cables to the battery in order to jump-it,, the car now had enough power and the key was able to move all the way to the rear position and able to remove.

Have you tried any Graphite yet ??? I saw some in WalMart the other day @ the Key Cutting counter(located in the auto dept) It comes in a small tube and that's what it is used for. Worth a try. Good luck,
david
