I am having some electrical issues with my 03 suburban. I am not a mechanical person per se but know enough and understand enough to get by. I am the only owner of this vehicle and have replaced more on it than I can remember.
Current issue:
I thought I had a bad battery and replaced it in March. Approximately a month later the car wouldn't start. Took off the leads and cleaned them, made sure they were tight and charged the battery. Car started and has run fine since. This past weekend after being parked in the heat for the afternoon when I got in the car I noticed that the clock had reset like an alarm would do if you lost power overnight. The car started right up and I didn't think anything else of it. Today it started fine, I drove it about 30 miles running errands without issues. This afternoon I went to start it and it just clicked, wouldn't turn over. Went out about an hour later to see if any accessories were working and the battery was completely dead. My key fob wouldn't even work to unlock the doors, there was simply no power. I again charged the battery and it started. Tested the output without the charger and was getting a reading between 13-14 which I understand is a properly operating Alternator?? While I had the car running, the idle seemed to cycle and idle very low. This is a first, idle has not been a previous issue.
Of note, the Power Steering pump and serpentine belt were replaced a couple weeks ago, not sure if that could or would do anything.
I need to take this into the dealership - AGAIN - but need to be somewhat educated. This vehicle is giving me fits and I need to make sure I understand what "could" be going on.
Thank you for ANY advice/direction!!
