Sad to say I haven't changed the oil in my 94 Chevy Cavalier in a little over 2 years. The last mechanic I took it to said not to change the oil now.. cause it's been so long. Is this true?

NO...heat from the engine causes a thermal breakdown of the oil..(thinning) which cause it to lose its viscosity causing premature bearing failure in the engine.change the oil & put in a oil additive (like stp, barhs engine treatment,ect.....)

how many miles did you put on the engine in those 2 years? um i am not sure but your oil might be a sludge by now...

Change it. Then sell it. A poorly maintained Chevy is a bad thing. Even worse than a new chevy!

truthfully i would say yes go ahead and actually flush your oil out, it might be a lil nasty and sludgy but you will tear out your bearing if you dont. Make sure you completly flush your engine to get the gunk out. then add a good oil and make sure to use lucas oil stablizer( a whole quart)

YES CHANGE IT! The reason the mechanic didn't want to change it is because he doesn't want the liability. Going that long without changing the oil has already damaged the engine, we just don't know how bad. If that mechanic changes your oil and your car breaks down the next day he might get blamed for it even though he did nothing wrong. This is bad for his business so the risk is not worth the $10 he might make off the oil change. So, yes you need the oil changed. You'll just have to look for someone who is willing to change it, unless you want to do it yourself.
