I have an 85 Suburban and I am trying to hook up a stereo. The whole fuse box has been rigged so I need to know if the yellow stereo wire which is the fused wire is the one that gets hooked up into the radio fuse and then the red wire comes from the ignition?

Can I just leave the red wire unhooked since that has been used to hook up after market gauges?

If you are talking about wires that are part of the Suburbans wire harness you might try a Hanes manual or autozone has some diagrams onces you sign up with them. If it's the stereo's wires you need to find the manufacturer.

Thank you, I guess my main question is the yellow fused wire is a constant power source comes from the fuse box and the red wire which is only powered when the key is on comes from the steering column, right?

It sounds like you are describing wires that are attached to the stereo, if so, who manufacturered the stereo? Without knowing that you are only guessing as to what color wire serves what purpose.
