Fuel Pump Power Issues.

I looked for days online and couldn't find a solid answer for the issue I'm having.

My 2003 Suburban was running great, no issues at all. All of a sudden while I was going up hill I stepped on the gas a little more to pass a slower car, my Suburban chugged as if it were out of fuel and then died. After I got it home I looked at it over and over and noticed the fuel pump wasn't working. I checked the relay (good), the PCM fuses (Good), then i checked all the fuses (Good). I swapped the pump out last night and still no power to the pump. I cant hear it turn over, so I rechecked everything and checked the grounds and they were all good. Right now I'm stumped, I dont know if anyone has had a similar problem. I dont even thing the sending unit is working right now, it has about 1/4 tank of gas and even added a little more and it still reads empty.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

If you have a test probe, you need to just turn the ignition switch on to power and get under the vehicle and see if you have power to the fuel pump. If not, then you're going to have to trace the wiring. When you say you checked all the fuses, do you have a fuse box inside the vehicle as well as under the hood? If so, make sure you check them all. Maybe it's a bad ground wire. Good luck with it.

Thanks for the advise, there is a fuse box in the car too. I've checked those also.

I've heard Chevy makes the certain cars "Fail Safe" but I don't know if this is one of them. Some claim that if the oil pressure sensor isnt reading oil pressure it shuts the fuel pump off to save the motor. Can anyone confirm this?

No matter whether or not it kills the pump when the oil pressure fails, when you turn the key to the run position the pump should start for a few seconds and then shut off. You say you checked the relay, how, test light, volt meter? Did you very briefly bench test either of the pumps?

I checked it with the test light then my buddy with his volt meter. When I did it with the test light the relay would light, then click the light off. we swapped with other relays ti check and its the same thing.
 
OK, so what happened at the pump end of the wire harness when you turned the key to the run position? Did it light and then go off?

Those dont light up at all. We checked the pin with the test light and no juice but we also traced the wires and couldnt find a break in any of it.
