I took my 2001 4 W/D Suburban for a VA state inspection and it barely passed. I was told that the right front wheel bearing or front wheel has a little bit of a play. I investigated the issue and tried to see if there is a wheel bearing that needs lubrication or adjustment just like a car. I did some research and I found out that the front bearing is self contained and has been lubricated. There is no lubrication required, the manual says. When I rotated the front right axle, it was making a rough sound like the bearings are out of grease. I did not do anything and put everything back together. I have some questions though, (1) how hard is it to replace the bearing,
(2) Do I have to disassemble a lot of components to get to it, (3) os there really no lubrication required on the bearing, and lastly, (4) what is the size of the front axle nut? Sorry for the long post.

try to pick up a copy of a hanes or chilton repair manual and judge for yourself whether you think you can do it. most vehicles today, both cars and trucks, have sealed bearing assemblies which are never lubricated after they are manufactured.
