Ford Focus or Chevy Cobalt ?

hey guys , i got my license like 3 weeks ago and ive been looking at chevy cobalts recently . And i like them .
However i've been hearing reviews about bad brakes . And that's scary . But i also was looking at ford focuses . My dad wants me to get a two door car though . Do you think the people talking about bad brakes were because of bad driving or what ? I live like 30 mins from Houston closer to the gulf of Mexico .So its very very hot down here . I like to go to the beach and the beach i go to , we usually have to park our cars on the sand . But in winter it can get cold but not too cold to where it snows .
I want something reliable , very good gas mileage , good brakes , good tires , something safe , & a sunroof oh and something that drives really smooth .

so should i get a 2008-2011 Ford Focus coupe or 2007-2010 Chevy Cobalt

Cobalt never heard anything or seen a brake issue with them.Brake only last as long as you take care of them slow down sooner when you know you have to stop or see a stop sign dont wait untill ur there and slam on the brakes or they wont last on any car.

Well, the brake problems on the Cobalts are only on the SS models. And won of the rear calipers will drag and prematurely cause your rear brake rotors to go out (that's what my 09 SS did). So if you're not getting the SS, you won't have to worry about that. However imo balt > focus, but I may be biased as I own a balt!
