Well it is my first car, I'm 17. My parents and I are picking it up this week. it is a 2008 chevy cobalt coupe lt, metallic slate.

I was just wondering, is it a good, solid car? I'm not one of those guys who are infatuated with cars and try to use nice cars to pick up girls. I just want a car to get me from point A to point B...especially since I am going to be going to college next year.

It is a 4 cylinder, and it does feel very comfortable inside when i test drove it.

Can anyone tell me their opinions of or on it?

Please and thank you.

People who bought it give it very good ratings, and so did the media, in general. I think that you made a good choice. There will always be different opinions about which car is better or worse, but there is nothing wrong with your choice.

It's near the bottom of that class and I would look at the Mazda 3 before I got a Cobalt. The Mazda 3 has been the king of that hill for like 5-6 years. I wouldn't look at Chevy in that group until the Cruze comes out.

its a decently reliable car, with a decently smooth ride.

It's definitely not the best car on the road, but its sufficent for the commute to college and back.

For a first car, i'd say good job- if you keep up with the maintenance it should last you 5-10 years.

Its no Mazda3 but its a darn good car. A close friend of mine has one (2007 RS Coupe w/ 17 wheels) and it drives very nice. It took me (6'1), her (5'11.5) and my other friend (5'9) to Orlando (+/- 350 mi) last spring break quite comfortably and with less than one tank of gas. and Chevy (GM) definitely make the most reliable American cars. ANd if you are not all that into cars then this one will be great for you.

The only quirk is that in her car if you ever happen to run out of gas the car must (i repeat must) be towed to a Chevy Dealer for a reboot. There is no simple walking to get gas and then going on with life.

Also, in my opinion, any car that is 5 years old is more than good for a first vehicle. My first car was/is 16 years old and I am sooooo grateful for its existence.
