Failed my smog test due to an air leak. I dropped the fuel tank and replaced the filler hose, vent hose and the short piece of hose that goes to the canister. the hose from the carburator and the short piece of hose that goes to the canister look good, and failed again.
Any ideas where else to look?
Another thing, now the fuel gauge needle reads at "3:00 o'clock" with just a couple gallons in it wheras before it read a "1:30 o'clock" when full.
Any help is appreciated
Thanks

What year is the vehicle and what code is the computer throwing? You must have done something related to the sender when you dropped the tank, check any ground connections.

It's a 1990 5.7 TBI
I done have access to a scanner, so I have no idea on what code it's giving

It would have been cheaper to buy a code reader before you spent the money and time on the other things. Can you borrow one?

Would a meter tell me which hose I had to replace?
I needed to replace the hose to pass smog

What you need to do is have a smoke test done rather than spend all that time changing hoses. Find a shop that does the test.

That's what I was afarid of.
Found 1 that wants about a hundred bucks
