My mechanic, whom I have always trusted, told me yesterday that my 04 Suburban has shocks that cost about $750 each. Surely, this cannot be correct. Anyone, please advise.

you have to provide more information, which model suburban, which suspension system, etc. You can go to a site like www.napaonline.com and see shocks for a 2004 Surburban can run anywhere from $29 a piece to $419 a piece if you have a Z55 autoride suspension. So your mechanic maybe telling you the truth.

You can also check places like Strutmasters.com and get a conversion set for a lot less than the OEM autoride parts

I just acquired a 2001 Suburban with the ZW7 suspension package. I need to replace the shocks and I am shocked at what the good stuff costs from ACDelco. They have a set for front and back that cost around $35 bucks each. Agian these are all ACDelco. I wonder what on earth can the difference be. I am sure there is a difference, but what is it. I am looking at over $800 for a set of shocks if I go with the good stuff, and those would be from Rock Auto. I have to do something because one of the front shocks is leaking.

if you use google they define the ZW7 as the premium smooth ride suspension.
Have you looked at the Monroe prices?
