I had the rear wheels off for air bags, new shocks and parking brake pads. Of course the brake dust shields are probably original and were rusted to the point they fell apart in my hands. I installed the 2 piece Dorman shields and I want to ensure that I am re-attaching my parking brake cable the right way.

The attached pic is the bird's eye view of the driver side.

I did not document the exact position of the cable end before removing and now I want to be sure that I installed everything the right way. It seems that there is too much spring between the actuator and the bracket it mounts to. But I can't be sure that it's not right and maybe when I reattach the turnbuckle along the frame (driver's side) the slack will be taken up and all will be good. I would really hate to assemble and have issues that require disassemble.

Does anyone know if the cable end attaches from the top side (as shown) or bottom side of the actuator. Does the end somehow fit into the notch of the actuator?

I know this is real minutiae here, but I've tried all over the net...and no luck.

Thanks in advance.

Mike
