I just bought a 2015 Suburban and have driven it less than 40 miles (delivered with 191 miles). Noticed that the engine made a slightly less smooth sound than I thought it should (with the hood closed), so I looked under the hood and saw some rust around the engine. It's probably not what's causing the sound (if the sound even is bad--not sure if it is).

I was wondering if, based on the pictures posted with this thread, I have anything to worry about with a brand new 'burban being delivered with rust on the engine.

Any informed feedback would be most appreciated to allay my fears.

thats normal, it's the exhaust manifolds they get extremely hot and will develope a surface coating only since they arent painted

Yep, they are cast iron. If you stare long enough you can see them oxidize.
Most brake rotors will develop oxidation just sitting overnight if it's damp or humid.
